FOR IMMEDAITE RELEASE
Fresh from her recent trip to the Middle East, designer Julie Tengdahl is gearing up for the release of her new clothing line The Love of Fate set to make its debut at this month’s Mercedes Benz Fashion Festival (MBFF).
Inspired by the age-old techniques and tradition clothing productions utilized in 16th century Indian spice trade and the textile industry in Gujarat, Julie’s new line will feature layers, rich fabrics and tapestry with particular attention to a women’s waist and bust.
Described as “pretty girly”, Julie found inspiration for ‘The Love of Fate’ after her recent trip took her from the extreme tropical cocoon in Kerala Ashram in India to the isolated Forgotten Land in the Middle East.
Julie spent her days experiencing what it would be like to live in the Middle East by sleeping in clay huts in the desert and participating in cultural actives such as the ancient art of looming. It was there that she learned to let go of fear and to trust the unknown.
Julie took a particular liking to the textile industry due to its emphasis on women, jewelry and gold, as well as the use of saffron, rust, emerald ad gem tones.
After returning home, Julie used modern techniques to digitally replicate the prints of the source materials for her new line which will launch at the 2015 MBFF.
The line will also feature in Julie’s two Tengdahl fashion boutiques located in Brisbane Arcade and Emporium.
